Did you know that you can be sure you are going to heaven?
FIRST, you must believe God's Word that you are a sinner. "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God" (Rom. 3:23). No one is perfect; no one has lived up to God's perfect standard.
SECOND, you must believe that, as a sinner, you owe a debt. "For the wages of sin is death" (Rom. 6:23). This death is shown in the Bible to be the second death, in the lake of fire. "Death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death" (Rev. 20:14). If you were to pay what you owe as a sinner, you would spend eternity in the lake of fire - Hell.
THIRD, you must believe that Jesus Christ has already paid our sin debt. "For when we were without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly" (Rom. 5:6). Christ was not the sinner. The Bible teaches that God took all of our sin and placed it on Christ: God punished him in our place to pay the debt that we owe. Jesus Christ has already paid your sin debt!
FOURTH, you must receive by faith what Jesus did for you. "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life" (John 3:36). The word "believe" means to trust, to depend on, or to rely on. If you will trust Jesus as your Lord and Savior, pray a simple prayer like this one from your heart:
"Dear Lord Jesus, I know that I am a sinner, and I deserve to pay my own sin debt. I do believe that You died for me to pay the debt that I owe. Today, I trust you as my Lord and Savior from sin and hell."
